This annoys me: spammers are creating Tumblr blogs and pointing them to non-Tumblr sites by setting the custom domain in the customize page without changing the domain’s A-record accordingly, and then they indiscriminately like posts in hopes of getting traffic and PageRank from the posts’ notes. If you see this post’s notes, you’ll see that the last 20 or so “likes” are like that, with most of them not even linking to a Tumblr blog. The worst part is that it probably works, because the links pointing back to the spammers’ sites in the notes don’t have
rel="nofollow", and because Google crawls those partial HTML pages for the notes. Please, Tumblr, add
rel="nofollow"to all the links in the HTML generated by{PostNotes}&{PostNotesURL}, and addDisallow: /notesto everyone’s robots.txt to discourage this behavior and stop us from getting penalized by Google for inadvertently linking to spammy content.
